Winter 2012 Happy New Year! Another year seems to have flown by. There just never seems to be enough hours in a day to accomplish all the things I’d like to do. That is one reason I look forward to the Manitoba Prairie Quilters’ annual January retreat - three days of nothing to do but sew! With any luck I’ll complete my Quilt Reflections 2012 Challenge, Animals, Animals, Animals, as well as a table topper and quilt blocks for the banquet tables. We’re in the home stretch to the Quilt Reflections 2012 Show. There’s a definite buzz and much anticipation for the April 13-15 event. It will be a very busy weekend, with lots to do and see. We’re excited to offer for the first time, a special exhibit by the Fibre Arts Network -- a contemporary collection of wall quilts with the theme Canadian Content. While Quilt Reflections 2012 is uppermost in our minds, let’s not forget all the great programs upcoming at Guild meetings and monthly workshops. Members Jan MacDonald and Leona Fitzpatrick will be teaching technique workshops in February; Geeseje Baron and Esther Vermeer offer tote bag workshops in March featuring their folded block technique; Pat Daniels will talk about EQ7 at the April Guild meeting; in May members will be treated to a trunk show and workshops by Cathy Miller, who is known as the “Singing Quilter” . Happy stitching, Val Hazelton
