Isla Marsh -TreasurerI started to quilt many years ago - took a couple of classes through a community centre, then undertook to make an applique baby quilt. Little animals, with separate pieces for tails, ears, noses - and not knowing any better, used polycottons. Not the easiest appliqie, but I didn't get turned off and persevered. I have done embroidery even longer. My favourites are several different types of hand embroidery, hand applique and hand quilting - all kinds of hand work. I do use the machine for piecing, but have trouble doing machine quilting, so try to stay away from it. My cats are only to willing to help, especially Maggie, who sits behind the machine and chews off the thread whether I want it cut or not. My next big project is to finish the Lone Star quilt my grandmother started years ago in time for the 2012 Quilt Reflections. |
